Trapped in an Elevator...with Diarrhea

I know, totally not rock related, right? But this video was too funny not to share. Apparently, there was some guy that was trapped in an elevator for exactly 41 hours for real, but this isn’t about him. This is a hilarious parody. What if this had happened to you?

P.O.D.: When Angels and Serpents Dance (Review)

(album art from http://promotionscrew.com/payableondeath)

Some may not be a fans of the rap-rock genre, or the small niche that is Christian rap-rock for, but like most nu-metal bands of the early 00's, (Linkin Park, Korn, or the lesser known Thousand Foot Krutch), P.O.D. has cut the rap and kept the rock. This album, with its obvious California influence, is all about the heavy metal rift vs. the reggae groove, with a solid mix of both throughout. What's missing on this album is the heart-pounding P.O.D. of the past. There is no "Youth of the Nation" or "Alive" to be found, which is what most people are craving. That being said, there are a lot of good tracks on the album, such as "Addicted", "End of the World", and only a few duds. Like the title implies, each song emphasizes the struggle between that of the world and that of God, but in a much more metal manor than that of your Sunday morning service. Feel free to give your thoughts on this album by commenting!

R.E.M.: Accelerate (Review)

(really awesome album art from wikipedia.org)

R.E.M. is back! Yeah, I know they came out with an album in 04' and a bunch of compilations since 96', but this is nothing like the moody, somewhat depressing R.E.M. in Around the Sun. Adding a new drummer and an extra man on guitar seems to have helped create a new, more aggressive sound. While the album is short (34 minutes to be exact) it will give you a rush that will make you listen to it again and again. This is something everyone can enjoy, from those who remember the release of "It's the End of the World as We Know It", to kids who think R.E.M. is "classic rock". Even though R.E.M. has upped to rock ante, it may not be enough for those who like their rock hard and heavy. To those people, in the word's of my favorite track on the album - "The future is ours (R.E.M.'s), and you don't even rate a footnote."

I give this album 4/5 rocks.

Boobies!

This obviously isn't rock music related, but they has always been a fascinating animal to me. I used to have animal flash cards when I was younger and this one was my favorite. Here's your science lesson for the day...

The Blue-footed Booby is on average 81 cm (32 in) long and weighs 1.5 kg (3 lb), with the females slightly larger than the males. It has long pointed wings and a wedge shaped tail. They have strong thick necks. The boobies eyes are placed on either side of their bill and oriented towards the front. They have excellent binocular vision. The blue-footed boobie's eyes are yellow. The male has more yellow on its iris than does the female. The Blue-footed Booby has permanently closed nostrils specialized for diving. They breathe through the corners of their mouths. Their feet range from a pale turquoise to a deep aquamarine. Males and younger birds have lighter feet than females do.

Led Zeppelin - Mothership [Remastered] (Review)

What can you say about Led Zeppelin that hasn't already been said? Their huge rock sound that has spanned 8 albums is crammed into this double disc greatest hits compilation that lacks in no musical department. If you ever think that todays music has fallen short of your expectations and would like to return to the time of classic rock, just listen to any one of these songs (literally, any one of these songs) and be amazed. Zeppelin's music spans all genres of rock and has no equal. In my opinion, they are the greatest rock band of all time. Plant, Bonham, Page, Jones, there's nothing else to say, except this - everyone with the ability to hear should buy a Led Zeppelin album. No exceptions.

I give this album 5/5 rocks!

Blogging 101: Increasing blog traffic and more!

As you may or may not have been able to tell, I am new to blogging. Over the past couple of days I have dug through the inter-web trying to figure out ways to increase my blog's popularity (traffic, I guess you would say). Many sites have given me helpful information on how to set-up and run my own blog efficiently. I still haven't received the traffic I want, but I know it's hard to be an overnight success. So, I have compiled a list of my top three favorite blog help sites. I'm not really into making money, which is what these sites advertise. I would just like to have a place to write reviews and talk rock.

1. http://www.problogger.net

This site has tons of information on how to start your own blog. He also has a book, but I'm guessing it's all on the site already...

2. http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com

I'm not really all that familiar with html, but this site will give you some tips on how to customize your blog.

3. http://sethgodin.typepad.com

This guy has compiled a list of 56 tips to increase your blog traffic. There are many other lists similar to this one out there, but this one has many points I haven't seen anywhere else.

There will be more rock reviews to come on When Rock Attacks! Be sure to check out previous reviews of Against Me!, Brand New, and the Foo Fighters.

Foo Fighters: Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (Review)

In case you didn't know, the Foo Fighters have been rockin' for for over 10 years now and don't seem to be slowing down. In their newest album, Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace, the Foo Fighters explore their musical talents by providing a little bit of something for everyone. If you like hard rock, tracks like "The Pretender" and their newest single, "Long Road to Ruin", are sure to get you pumped. There are also acoustic tracks that show off Dave Grohl's vocal range as well as the bands ability to be more than an in-your-face rock attack (not that that's a bad thing). If your a huge Foo Fighter's fan or just looking for a great rock album with no disappointing tracks, look no further than Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace.

I give this album 4 ½ out of 5 rocks.

Favorite April Fools Day Web Joke

I know April Fools day was almost two weeks ago, but hey...this blog is barley a day old! When browsing around one of my favorite video game sites, ign.com, I found a very odd but somewhat interesing trailer for a new movie coming out called The Legend of Zelda. I'm not a fan of any movie that was originally a game, but the Zelda series is one of my all-time favorites, so I gave it a look. I kind of had a hunch that it was a joke, but it was such an unbelievably elaborate trailer that the chances seemed slim . I just kept on watching this video wondering why on Earth anyone would make a Zelda movie. The acting wasn't that bad, but some of the characters looked pretty ridiculous. Ganandorf's face was all plasticy and Link's tunic didn't make a good game to movie transition. It's not the fact that it almost had me fooled that makes it a good joke. It's the amount of work that went into it. Check it out.

Brand New: The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me (Review)

Brand New has reinvented themselves yet again with their third release: The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. Along with having a totally new sound, they've managed to create deeper, somewhat spiritual lyrics. While their previous pop-punk albums have made them an underground success, this album exposes their indie rock side. It's easy to see that Brand New is a tad bit ahead of their peers. Their music flows with semi-dark lyrics that question life, love, and death. The track "Jesus Christ" is one of the more powerful tracks on the album...

"I know you're coming in the night like a thief
But I've had some time, O Lord, to hone my lying technique
I know you think that I'm someone you can trust
But I'm scared I'll get scared and I swear I'll try to nail you back up"

I have to say just reading these lyrics definitely doesn't do them justice. The album is chock fool of lyrics such as these, coupled with spine-tingling guitar rifts and echoing drums. Who really cares if these guys aren't as mainstream as they could be. Jesse Lacey's lyrical emotion will leave you wanting more. Are these the same guys that released pop track "The Quiet Things that No One Ever Knows"? I find it hard to believe.

Against Me!: New Wave (Review)

(image from wikipedia.org)

Why not let my first review be one of my new favorite albums? Against Me!'s New Wave is full of the band's punk anguish, but with a crispier feeling. Don't get me wrong, this is a good thing. The passion and power in their lyrics is still there. Each song manages to come at you with a punk force that doesn't turn off the average listener, by keeping one foot on the base of rock. The heavy riffs of "American Abroad" might make you jump in the mosh pit, while the catchy drumming of "Stop!" might make you, dare I say, dance? This album is the best punk has had to offer in the past year or so, and I personally have listened to the whole album at least ten times. It's fresh, it's new, and your guaranteed to have never heard anything like it.

I give this album 4.5/5 rocks

This is only the beginning...

I like to keep a real chill environment, so make your posts flame-free. Keep a lookout for daily posts and upcoming reviews. Also, feel free to give me tips on how to make my blog even more awesome.
